India has announced a complete lockdown till 3 May 2020. The government has ordered the restriction of movement, except for emergencies and people providing essential services. These social distancing measures are taken to contain COVID-19 spread. One of them is “Lockdown e-pass”.
Did you get the lockdown e-pass?
In a way to support the businesses providing essential services to move without issues or regular people can move to deal with emergencies, several states and union territories (UTs) are offering e-passes that can be obtained online.
What is e-pass?
e-passes referred to as movement pass or COVID-19 emergency pass, or online lockdown pass. It can be obtained online for some states. Several states are allowing users to register for an e-pass on their website. Some states have also released mobile apps or WhatsApp numbers to assist in the matter.
How to apply for lockdown e-pass?
In order to get the lockdown e-pass, the user can follow the below steps:
- Visit official lockdown e-pass website for your state or city
- Click on the ‘Apply Here’ or something similar. It might be different on each state’s website.
- Mention the reason for the need of e-pass. Some other questions might also be asked from the users on the different state websites. For example, some State’s e-pass website asks for a photo ID proof, valid organization documents, medical report, and company ID to be attached with the application.
- After entering the credentials in the application, click on ‘Submit’.
- The application will be reviewed by the local police and then the e-pass will be issued.
- If there occurs any discrepancy in filling the application, users can contact the local police station to have it resolved. A unique token ID will be issued to the applicant.
How to check the status of the e-pass application?
- The user can check the status of the application after submitting the application form.
- The user should enter the unique ID on the e-pass website.
- Once the e-pass is approved, an SMS will be sent from the authorities to the phone informing the user.
- The e-pass can then be printed for further use.
It should be noted that the user must always carry the e-pass when they leave the house during the nationwide lockdown.
